DTF means Direct-to-Film. Your design is printed on specialized film with professional inks, then coated with adhesive powder that activates under heat. You place the transfer on a garment, press it with a heat press, peel the film, and you have a finished full-color print. It handles complex gradients, photographic detail, and unlimited colors without the setup cost of screen printing.

PNG with a transparent background at 300 DPI is the gold standard. We also work with PDF, TIFF, and SVG. Stay away from JPG and JPEG — those formats do not support transparency, which means your design will print with a visible background box on the garment.
DTF printing lays down a white ink base beneath your design for color vibrancy. If your file includes a solid background — even white — that background prints too. The result is a rectangle around your art on the shirt. Export as PNG with transparency to get a clean, cutout-style transfer.
We can handle basic tweaks — removing backgrounds, resizing files, minor cleanup. For anything beyond that, like redrawing or complex editing, we recommend working with a designer first and then sending us the final production file. Nearly anything that tolerates heat pressing: cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, tri-blends, nylon, denim, canvas, and performance athletic fabrics. Light colors, dark colors — does not matter. The white ink base ensures your design pops on any garment shade.
Start at 300 to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, 10 to 15 seconds, medium to firm pressure. Peel the film while it is still warm. After peeling, do a finishing press for about 5 seconds with parchment paper or a Teflon sheet over the design. Always pre-press the garment for 3 to 5 seconds to remove moisture first.
When applied correctly, DTF transfers hold up through 50 to 100 or more wash cycles. Turn the garment inside out, wash in cold water, skip bleach and harsh detergents, and tumble dry on low. Following these basics keeps your prints sharp and intact for the long haul.
Nine times out of ten it comes down to temperature, time, or moisture. Make sure your press is actually reaching 300 degrees (use a temperature strip to verify), that you are holding for a full 10 to 15 seconds, and that you pre-pressed the garment to eliminate moisture. Re-pressing the transfer usually fixes partial adhesion issues.
